The country’s leading auto manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki has also unveiled the Made in India car Maruti Jimny 5-Door in Japan. This car was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and in FY2024-25, this car became the second largest car exported by Maruti Suzuki.
This car is exclusively manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing facility, Gurugram. This car has a global legacy of offroading car. This car is exported to more than 100 countries. The launch of this famous 4WD SUV in Japan is an important step in the export of Maruti Suzuki. This journey has become the second SUV to be supplied to the domestic market of Suzuki Motor after Fronx.
Second car made after Fronx
On this occasion, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Hisashi Takeuchi said that the launch of ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-door in Japan is a proof at the global level. He further said that this is our second model, which is being exported to Japan.
Earlier Maruti Fronx is sold in Japan. It was decided to export Fronx in August 2024. He further said that after Mexico, Australia and South Africa, now this car is being sold in Japan. We are confident that it will delight customers in Japan. The export of Jimny confirms our company’s commitment to ‘Make-in-India for the World’.
Sales of more than 35 lakh models
Maruti Jimny is a very popular model all over the world. Suzuki has sold more than 35 lakh Maruti Jimny models worldwide so far. This car has been sold in 199 countries. The 3-door Jimny is already being sold in the Japanese market. Now the popularity of the 5-door Maruti Jimny will increase in the Japanese market.
Company’s export performance in 2025
Maruti Suzuki is India’s number-1 passenger vehicle exporter. The company has exported 3.23 lakh vehicles to more than 100 countries in CY 2024. The company’s market share in India’s total passenger vehicle exports is 43.5 percent. Maruti Suzuki started exporting fronts to Japan in August 2024 and the company’s car has performed well so far.
